Our Mission

Our mission is, and always has been, to create beautiful products founded on kindness and its power to uplift others. That’s why 100% of our bracelets are made by the hands of amazing women, many of whom are refugees, and every purchase helps them build a brighter future.

Many of these women come to the US from war-torn countries, escaping abuse and tragedy. As I spent time with these women, I learned we have many things in common, despite our differences in language and culture. I  learned they all want the same thing that I do; safety, security and happiness for their children and themselves.

To give each women an opportunity, they are paid a fair wage for crafting our jewelry, allowing them to work towards a brighter future and financial stability for their families and themselves.

Meet Our Founder, Rachel

Rachel Stohlton, founder of Twig of Stone
As a tomboy who doesn’t wear fancy jewelry, I was looking for something that I could wear all the time – something that would stand up to the test of the outdoors, yoga, and three little boys who pretty much destroy everything in their path.  I searched high and low and couldn’t find anything that was comfortable, durable, and could go with anything.  So I started down the path of sourcing organic materials to make bracelets for myself.  And what I thought would be something that only I would like evolved into something larger, where my friends and sisters (and my dad) asked me to make them one too. And one led to another and two led to three.

As a stay at home mom, the routine of cleaning, cooking, changing diapers, doing laundry, shuttling kids, and rinsing and repeating can be a bit of a grind.  I love what I do and am grateful that we are in a position that I can spend as much time as I do with our boys.  But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t hard or that I don’t long for something different, at times.  So when people encouraged me to keep making bracelets, I saw an opportunity to challenge myself in new ways and share with others some of the things that bring joy to me.
